McCartney working to re-acquire Beatles catalog in U.S.

In short, US copyright law states that the original artist can reacquire the publisher’s share of songs 56 years after they were written.

Paul McCartney filed termination notice on 32 songs from The Beatles catalog.  Interestingly, this will be the first time McCartney has owned his own publishing rights to Beatles songs.  They were originally owned by Northern Songs Limited, established by Brian Epstein.
