Happy Black History Month everybody

When I was digging into the past to discover where the music I like came from, I quickly learned that what I liked came more from the music African-Americans had cultivated than from any other source.  Elvis made African-American music that caucasians could feel “safe” listening to; both The Beatles and The Rolling Stones celebrated the music of their progenitors; both Pearl Jam and Nirvana paid tribute to Leadbelly.

Though this list is far from complete, here is a brief rundown of some of the roots of what became Rock and Roll.
