Cover song: This Charming Man

First some background.  When The Smiths were a fairly new band, one of their first singles was titled “This Charming Man”.  The week the single entered the Top 30 on the British Pop charts, they were invited to perform on Top of the Pops.  Now, lead singer Morrissey knew that they would basically be performing karaoke to their own song, so he insisted on performing holding a bouquet of flowers instead of a microphone as his own form of protest.

A mere 13 years later, as Death Cab For Cutie were just getting started in Bellingham, WA recording what would become their debut release (actually demos, but it was later expanded in 2002 to album length, from where this song came), You Can Play These Songs with Chords.
